With our last adventure quickly fading into the [tropical Caribbean] sunset, I am happy to get back to my summer Saturday routines I so deeply missed! In our area the farmer’s markets start up around April and end in October. Our local market in Frisco meets only on Saturday mornings. It is small, but I have a couple of favorite vendors there. Weeks had gone by since the last time I was able to swing by, but I was finally able to get back there this morning.
This particular local market is fairly small. They are in a new location this season, and the parking is less convenient. Next year the bigger market being built to replace it, Frisco Fresh Market, is supposed to be ready. It will be a much larger indoor/outdoor facility, with a parking area, space for performers and restaurants, too. I am looking forward to it! And practically in my own back yard (it’s about a 10 minute drive).
I returned home with only a few goodies since I inadvertently had little cash on hand. I had enough to get my tomatoes, jalapeños, and onions (I see salsa in my very near future) and some leftover for a tub of hummus from my favorite Greek vendor ‘Greek Mama’s Bites’ – they make the best hummus! Some vendors do accept credit cards, but I like to limit myself to using only cash when I have it on hand. It helps me stick to my budget.
I’m excited about reestablishing my routines and using my kitchen more for creative ventures!!
How I enjoy Farmer’s Markets. We don’t have many in our area, but I’m always ready to search them out. The food is so delicious and much fresher than from the stores. Your photos make me hungry!!
I get so inspired when I go…and it’s fun to talk to the vendors. Many times they offer up recipes I haven’t tried, or suggest food pairings I had not considered in the past. It expands my palate!! 🙂
Neat! I don’t know of anything like that where I live, though there are a few stores that offer fresh, natural and organic food. By the way, I know what you mean about getting back to familiar routines after you’ve been gone. Glad your return to the familiar was smooth.
Yes, I am a ‘routine’ person…I like that I am getting back to some sense of normalcy again. Though I have to admit, the past few years have yielded some amazing experiences that I would not trade for the world!!
